Research Projects

FireSat Design Project - Senior project to design a forest fire detection satellite. Designed spacecraft bus and configuration; ensured observation of launch vehicle restrictions, integration, and launch procedures.
Cheap Access to Space Design Project - Special design project to design a next generation launch vehicle. Researched possible crew escape system and thermal protection materials for an aerial refueled sub-orbital launch system.
Hybrid Rocket Development Team, 1993-1995. A cooperative effort to develop a hybrid rocket motor testbed for use in experimental testing and in a laboratory course. Created CAD drawings of nozzle and took bids for construction; assisted in construction of exhaust system. New Launch System Study Group, 1993-94. Researched new and proposed small launch systems, examining vehicle specifications and potential uses.
